CF FRIENDS

ASH DOBBS

I suppose I should start with my first CF friend. Ash Dobbs. Back in paediatrics he was the only other Cfer I knew my age. We were even due to be born on the same day but I was 2 weeks early and he was born late. My earliest memory was seeing him at the very end of a long corridor as we would be moved into a room so they could get past without coming into contact. Not just because I we both have CF but because at 3 days old, I had MRSA and at a young age he got cepacia (the same as Will in 5 feet apart). We would hear updates in C.H.E.I.F meetings of his progress and on the 6th of February 2017 he was blessed with new lungs after a double lung transplant. But I'll let you read more about him in a book about his journey written by his wonderful Mum Helen.

Kate Eveling A.K.A is a truly wonderful person and her YouTube channel is fantastic. She demonstrates that CF has its highs and lows and you should never be ashamed to allow yourself to feel upset about it sometimes. At times people just need a little cry. She does a great job at making you feel accepting of yourself, which in todays world we need more of. A link to her linktree is below.

Then we have the God level standard of what CF can also look like.  It's not hard to see how he got nicknamed CF Thor. He was a fitness model and even made it onto the cover of men's health magazine. That's how I first came about stumbling across him on Instagram. He was the physical embodiment of what I wanted to look like as a kid, and even as an adult he is a great inspiration. Unfortunately I'm a good few years too late to get that big but Id be more than happy having normal sized arms and big enough shoulders to stop my back looking hunched. So, I can imagine some people seeing this hunk of a man and secretly hoping he's a massive prick. He cant look that good and not be a tool. Sorry folks. He is generally one of the nicest guys I've ever come across not only is he a massive nerd but he has a great sense of humour but also uses his looks and reputation to not only inspire young cfers but actually supports them too. I sighed up for his online PT app and it was such a good idea that even doing my workouts he was literally a message away to give advice, support and feedback, while not actually needing to risk of meeting face to face. Plus last I heard he lives in Northern Ireland and travels a lot all over the world so that wasn't a risk anyway. I highly, highly recommend him if you want to look into training CF or not. ill
